Expressing Habitual Action with szokott
To say that you usually do something or have a habit of doing something, Hungarian uses the special verb szokott with the infinitive of the main verb.
Although szokott looks like a past-tense form because of -t/-tt, it usually translates as a regular action in the present or past depending on context: “I usually do” or “I used to do.” It can be conjugated in indefinite or definite forms depending on whether the sentence has a specific object.

Note: If the main verb has a verbal prefix, such as meglátogatni or elolvasni, the prefix separates and goes before szokott: meg szoktam látogatni.
